Litigation
The Litigation Department is actively
engaged in civil litigation involving
sophisticated and complex matters in State
and Federal courts, arbitration and administrative
agencies. The attorneys in the Litigation
Section not only are business advisors,
but, more importantly, are experienced
trial lawyers. The attorneys in the Firm
have experience in many areas of litigation
including general commercial and corporate,
consumer-automobile dealership complaints,
collections, labor and employment, title
insurance claims defense and coverage
disputes, class actions, real property,
appellate, landlord-tenant, environmental
and land use, and other shareholder business
disputes.
Pathman Lewis has developed a particular
expertise in representing automobile dealerships
in consumer complaint litigation and in
the defense of class action lawsuits.
The Firm has had great success in defending
class actions in both State and Federal
Courts, including the United States Court
of Appeals.
The Firm’s Litigation Department
has also recovered millions of dollars
for its clients in complex commercial
matters. When the circumstances require
it, the Firm has pursued and sometimes
followed recalcitrant defendants into
the bankruptcy court in order to recover
substantial sums or to ensure that they
cannot simply discharge their debt. Most
importantly, in rendering these services,
the Firm is guided by the costs of its
services so as to ensure the appropriate
cost-benefit analysis from the Client’s
perspective, which is the only perspective.
The Firm also provides counsel to businesses
that have fallen victim to one of the
ever-growing number of employment discrimination
claims that have beset the business community
within the last several years. The Firm
provides an aggressive defense in these
matters.
The Firm’s Litigation Department
is results oriented and has had great
success in resolving contested matters
in a manner that is both efficient and
cost effective. |
